Message from our Corps Officer

We welcome you to the home page of our church which encompasses the Salvation Army in Derby. We realise that many of you will access this site for many reasons, perhaps because you require information concerning our activities and services or because you need to know something about us or you need our assistance. Perhaps you just happened to stumble upon us as you browse the web. Whatever the reason, we wish you welcome and assure you that we hope you find this site helpful.

We wonder as to what you might feel Christmas is all about? It is different things to different people and our understanding is determined by our past experiences. We would hope that whatever you feel about this time of year, you will remember that the only reason this all came into being is because it is a celebration of the love and presence of the God who made us. For this is the time when we remind ourselves that God came down to earth and lived among ordinary human beings.

We live in a world where we are all hoping for miracle workers or saviours, in terms of health, finance, the economy, laws and government. We could be waiting a long time!   God however came that first Christmas. He came Himself in the person of a tiny baby.

It is our belief that it is only through God that men and women, boys and girls can live the kind of lives that are meaningful and happy. This is the reason for the season.

"If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent an educator. If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist. If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist. But since our greatest need was forgiveness, God sent us a Saviour."   Max Lucado

As they say, "Have a good one" and every blessing.
